It’s 1942. Hitler’s armies occupy virtually all of Europe. On the beaches of Dieppe in France, Canadian troops suffer one of their largest losses of the war - nearly one thousand soldiers killed in a single morning. For the nation, it is one of the darkest moments of the war.
But back at home, a football team made up of young air force recruits become unlikely heroes and inspire an entire country.
Yet all that remains of this team today is a lone photograph.
Now, 70 years after this amazing season, Jackie and Diane, the daughters of one of the most famous players on that team -- Canadian football icon Jake Gaudaur -- begin a journey to uncover the mystery of what happened to these men and discover why their father would never talk about this photograph.
In the process they not only find a story of comradeship and sacrifice, but also uncover the truth about their father and his experience of coming to terms with losing the people he loved.
