After nearly two years of work, Infield Fly Productions and Scottish co-producer, Stream Scotland, completed their first feature length documentary on the fight to save the Scottish Clydesdale horse. Famed for their white-feathered feet and for hauling Budweiser beer, these giantand iconic horses are on the verge of what many call the “vortex of extinction” in the very place where they were first bred – Scotland.

Once, there were thousands of Clydesdales roaming the famous Clyde Valley near Glasgow. Now, they’re all but gone. The horse was once so valuable the Scots sold them all over the world. The most sought after were the pure blacks. Clydesdale: Saving the Greatest Horse follows award-winning Glaswegian designer, Janice Kirkpatrick, as she makes an extraordinary journey from the Clyde Valley to the heart of the Canadian Prairies.

Here she uncovers the true story of the Clydesdale horse and traces a Canadian family who’ve protected the ancient black Clydesdale bloodlines for five generations. Our cameras follow Janice as she unlocks the secret of reviving the Scottish herd.

Clydesdale: Saving the Greatest Horse is slated to air on the documentary Channel here in Canada and on BBC Television in the U.K. next Fall. More information and stories about the documentary are available at saveclydesdales.com
